ISR = Infant Swimming Resource - aka - survival swimming for young children. Ryan's neice and nephew had been through this course when they were infants. It takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks for toddlers to grasp the technique of floating for survival. Classes are 10 minutes a day every day until they graduate. Huge huge commitment - but worth it if you have a pool or live near as much water as we do here in Florida. As you can see Zoey is working on her swimming technique below....

Here she is working on floating

At first they aren't too sure about the idea of being let go - in time this will change...

One exhausted hard working Zoey Lin - anyone that sees Zoey on a regular basis finds it hard to believe she can actually lie still for more then a minute. 10 minutes doesn't seem like much - but it really is when you're working hard to survive.

It's Abigails turn... we start off with floating...

Abigail has been the funniest one to watch... she does the Indian call every time she floats. Whoo whoo whoo whoo - she is very nervous in the water and unsure at this stage.

Amy helps Abigail to understand by showing her where her arms need to be.

Katrina starts off in the middle of the pool swimming to what is known as the Monkey bar.
Abigail is resting and watching while baby Kat has her lesson.

Next Katrina moves over to the steps to practice swimming in and grabbing toys sitting on the steps

All done! phew! Baby Kat is exhausted too. Katrina is the most comfortable in the water. She rarely fusses and concentrates on what is being taught.
At the time of this posting - we are at week 5 (yeah I'm a little behind) and Zoey hopefully will graduate this week. Abigail and Katrina are coming up quickly too and hopefully will be finished in the next week or two - so stay posted. Good job girls!! We're so proud of your accomplishments.
